I’d like to share a resource I’ve been evaluating for my classroom: Zimphy, a platform of interactive lessons for educators. The ready-made library currently covers US History, Global History, AP Psychology, AP Human Geography and Sociology, and teachers can build their own lessons for any subject. I think it’s worth a short conversation, and this page covers the questions I expect you’d ask.

What it is

Lessons come in a few forms. An escape room turns a unit’s content into a sequence of puzzles: codes to crack, documents to analyze, maps to read, and decisions to defend. Students explore panoramic rooms in the browser and work through the challenges to “escape.” A simulation puts them in a role and makes them argue for a decision, then live with its consequences. Zimphy has a growing library of ready-made lessons, and its Studio tool lets teachers author their own with AI-assisted writing and custom theming, so it works for any unit we teach.

Why it helps our students

Engagement. Puzzle-driven review consistently pulls in students who sit out traditional review, and the whole class works from the same content standards.
Standards alignment. Lessons can be tagged to specific standards (AP course frameworks and state standards), so every activity maps to our scope and sequence.
Zero prep logistics. Everything runs in the browser on the devices students already have (Chromebooks, iPads, phones). No printing, cutting, or laminating.
Real reporting. After a session I get a class report showing exactly which questions students struggled with, down to the answers they typed, which feeds directly into reteaching.

Student privacy, briefly

This is the part I appreciate most as a teacher: students never create accounts, and the platform collects zero personally identifiable information from them. I generate a temporary, anonymous class code, students enter it and play, and the session expires (one week maximum). No student names, no emails, no logins, and nothing for a records request to find. That keeps FERPA and COPPA exposure off our plate entirely.

What it costs

Evaluating it is free. Any teacher can preview the full library at no cost, with no card on file. That’s what I’m doing now.
Individual teacher plans. Pro is $20/month or $200/year and unlocks live class sessions, homework assignments, and reports. Studio is $30/month or $300/year and adds build-your-own lesson authoring.
Team plans for a department. Per-seat pricing with a 5-seat minimum and automatic volume discounts: Pro from $180 per seat per year, Studio from $270. Schools can pay by purchase order, and tax-exempt status is handled at checkout. Districts needing 50+ seats get a custom quote.

With volume discounts, Team Pro works out to roughly $13 to $15 per teacher per month. For comparison, that’s about the cost of one substitute day per teacher per year.

What rollout looks like

There is nothing to install and no IT project. Each teacher signs up in about five minutes, and sessions support up to 50 students, enough for our largest classes. If the department adopts a Team plan, one admin invites teachers by email and manages billing in one place.

The ask
